Casablanca

Casablanca is a 1942 American romantic drama film directed by Michael Curtiz, starring Humphrey Bogurt, Ingrid Bergman and Paul Henreid.  This film is rated number three of the AFI’s top 100 films of all time.  It won academy awards for best picture, director, and screenplay.  Unfortunately, Bogart was only nominated for best actor.  However, he is the number one actor of all time by the AFI.  The female lead,  Bergman, is the number three actress of all time.  Lost love, honor, and sacrifice during World War II were the themes of this film. It was based off of a play called “Everybody comes to Rick’s” but it was never produced.  Many lines from this film have become memorable quotes.

The article I chose is from very popular and creditable site. The article gives you an in depth look into the film and its plot. The article also mentions how the film is one of the greatest movies of all time. The one thing that does stick out is how we talked about in the class, the many famous lines of the movie. Another reason I chose this article is due to the fact that it actually has a copy of the script.

In my opinion, the movie a 4 out of 5 stars. I understand how influential the movie was to the film industry now that I have really watched it. I don’t mind a Romance movie every now and then so it didn’t phase me that it got a little bit lovey dovey at the time. I probably will watch Casablanca again for enjoy…well one day anyway.
